Well, it has not been much of a winter as far as snow and ice in Annapolis goes. I’m sure that as I write this, a major snow storm will cripple the DC area, but it’ll melt in no time and spring will move in. The upside of it all is that it is time to open some windows for fresh air. That also means the neighbors are going to start hearing a bit more bagpiping.
The neighbor that called the cops on us a while ago doesn’t get home until 4 in the afternoon, so I try to get in most of my out on the screened porch playing done before then. I really don’t want to be a bad neighbor and annoy him if I can avoid it. But I think he should turn in his MGB. You would think that British pride would make act as if he likes piping, but then maybe it’s one of those English/Scottish things.
So last week I was playing in our great room in the back of the house. I had both screen doors open and a couple windows. Most of the neighbors like my playing, and I figured that playing inside with the windows open would allow just a “lilting” tune out. My wife was riding her bike and came inside to see me playing. She remarked that she could hear me quite clearly a couple blocks away and had assumed that I was playing outside. I guess there wasn’t much “lilting” going on.
